Greetings my friends!
As you might have guessed by now, my name is David/Dave. I am the founder of ToReiki and play “MrSpirit” on twitter. As the Law of Attraction came into the world by storm (via the ‘hit’ movie “The Secret”) I was swept up in the tidal wave of media hype (compliments mostly of Oprah) of the entire concept myself. However, I am usually someone that is a bit more skeptical about things like this… and then 18 months passed by. Now what, you may ask, is the importance of eighteen simple months? The significance of scheduling involved is quite spectacularly that, by utilizing this so-called law of attraction, as explained in “The Secret” to the best of my ability, quite unnaturally, my entire world has changed.
I was as skeptical as the next guy that any of this worked, but as you will see amongst my first posts (if you go back that far, yep, this intro will be sticky) this law of attraction has become more and more relevant, and undeniable, in my life. I, however, will not try to convince you one way or the other. I ask only that you read my story as it pertains to the LoA and make a decision for yourself. If you think that maybe, just maybe, there is something to it? Take my advice… visit the links in my blogroll… there is some invaluable information there to lead YOU to a life-change in an unreal short time.
To those of you who have never really heard of the LoA, I should give a short explanation. Essentially, the Law of Attraction is defined in wikipedia… “thoughts have an energy which attracts whatever it is the person is thinking of. In order to control this energy to one’s advantage, proponents state that people must practice four things:
1. Know exactly what you want.
2. Ask the universe for it.
3. Feel, behave and know as if the object of your desire is on its way.
4. Be open to receive it and let go of (the attachment to) the outcome.
Thinking of what one does not have manifests itself in not having, while if one abides by these principles, and avoids “negative” thoughts, the universe will manifest a person’s desires.” Though Wikipedia doesn’t seem fond of the idea itself, that is quite an apt description. It seems far-fetched but again, give a read to my blog, it might not seem so far-fatched…
And please PLEASE feel free to comment/question/etc. and to share this with anyone you so desire!
It seems unreal that I sit here just 18 months after the first time that I watched “The Secret.” In reality, really, sitting here. I know that sounds strange, but a lot of what I’m going to say sounded strange to me at first. So let’s go back to the beginning a bit…
*insert flashback music and effects here*
The date was unimportant other than the fact that it was October 2007 when all of this started. I had just finished watching “The Secret” and was talking to a dear friend of mine that had been experiencing the effects of the LoA for almost a year at that point. I was skeptical, almost laughing at the very idea that such a thing could work. However, she pointed out something very pausing. If it didn’t work, what was changing things for her? So, I decided to give it a shot. Now in the movie they tell you to try it out, to test it. They mention attracting a cup of coffee but, well, I’m not a coffee drinker. So I thought, alright, I need a new monitor for my PC and I want a flatscreen. And I started using the procedures talked about in The Secret (best as I could) to attract that flatscreen. Three days later… THREE DAYS… my friend Kat, from Florida, calls and asks “Hey David I have a flatscreen here in the box that I got with my new computer but I like my old one better because it’s bigger. It’s a 17″… know anybody that might want it?” Now this in and of itself caught my attention… but I was floored when all she was asking for it…? The price of shipping it up. Now imagine the look on my friend’s face (and in her voice) when I am casually mentioning this new monitor I picked up for only like $20. I will never forget her words… “So, do you believe it now?” In all honesty it hadn’t truly hit me until that moment…
Realizing this might not be a coincidence at this point, I took my friend’s advice and made a list of the top five things I wanted to attract. Oh sure other things could come up, but these were going to be my solid focus when I had free time. So I sat down and wrote:
1) A new, safe place for us to live
2) A new, safe car for the family
3) A new cell phone for me and the family
4) My diabetes under better control
5) A solid, reliable source of income.
Now I could plather on for hours on end about each item one by one. And perhaps some day I will do just that. First, I will say, that when I wrote this list I was going to be extremely happy if these five were accomplished in 5-10 years. But I asked for them, I believed they would happen in their own time, and…
1) In less than a year from the original list me and my family were moving into a new, safe mobile home not far from where we had lived. This new place was closer to the rest of my family, I can throw a stone and hit the main highway in town, and there is NO BLACK MOLD.
2) It was less than 2 months from the original list and we were approved for a slightly used car, less than 5,000 miles on it.
3) I had a cell phone plan with US Cellular almost exactly 4 months after the first list and just recently added the last of my family members to that family plan. Oh, and might I add that I added unlimited texting as an attraction? Part of the last add was my niece who not only agreed to pay for her part of the plan and texting, but as a thanks to us for putting her on our plan, paid for the entire plan’s unlimited texting. She is 16 years old and it was HER idea.
4) My A1C at the time of the list was 15.1, just .2 lower than when I was diagnosed. As of April 1 of this year, my A1C is 6.8… well within what is considered “normal” range. I take pills, shots, yes… but I am alive, and my blood sugars are no longer averaging between 200 and 700 every day (that is NOT an exaggeration).
5) As of the beginning of this month I started the first work I have had in 8 years. With my disability I knew this would be the most difficult. C’mon, who was going to give a disabled guy a job working at home, with the ability to work at night, and take breaks pretty much whenever he wanted to move around (within limits). Who? Well… Site5 hosting is who…
I won’t go into details just now but that’s 18 months after the fact… and in that time I have a new life. Coincidence? ALL of those things in less than 2 years? No… not to me… that is purpose.
Stay tuned for some other personal examples of the law of attraction in action, both in my current and in my recent past…………..
