Greetings & Salutations My Friends!

TR (what we affectionately call ToReiki) is a place for those who are beginning, or moving along, their Reiki journey. Within these pages you can find explanations of the basics of Reiki, what it takes to get a Reiki treatments, and even how to become a Reiki practitioner yourself. Our site, and those supporting it, see themselves as on a continual journey into the full Reiki experience. We are a large variety of backgrounds and skill sets, and yet in the end we all believe in Reiki and attempt to live our lives through the tenants of its system.

As you go through TR, we ask only that you keep an open mind, ask questions when you have them, and remember that Reiki is a different experience to everyone. It can be as meaningless or meaningful as you make it. The supporters of TR, however, all continue to work to make Reiki meaningful in their own lives and in the lives of every person they encounter.

Once again we thank you for visiting, we are so glad you’ve found us, and we look forward to becoming great friends in the future. We invite everyone to add our feed to their favorite reader and join us as a member!

Reiki Misconceptions

Monday, January 26th, 2009

As originally written by Phylameana lila Desy as published for About.com

When Reiki was first introduced to Canada and the United States in the 1970s it was cloaked in mystery. Hawayo Takata, a Hawaii native of Japanese descent, brought her knowledge of Reiki to the mainland through oral teachings. She insisted that the teachings not be written down because of the powerful nature of Reiki could be misused if gotten into the wrong hands. Usui Reiki teachings and stories were passed down from teacher to student by word of mouth for several years. No wonder the stories got jumbled up! For the record, Mrs. Takata is widely respected in the Reiki community and is credited for introducing the world at large to the spiritual art called Reiki. But, research has proven that some of her teachings were inaccurate.

Reiki Myths

Myth #1: Reiki is a Religion

Reiki absolutely is a spiritual art. The principle teachings of Reiki embrace a life of balance and promotes spiritual growth. But, Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based in any particular religious doctrine. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s beliefs or personal values. People of many different faiths have discovered the love-energies Reiki offers.

Myth #2: Dr. Usui was a Christian Monk

The founder of the Usui System of Reiki, Dr. Mikao (Mikaomi) Usui, was not a monk, a Christian, or a medical doctor. He was a Japanese Zen Buddhist, a businessman, spiritualist, and scholar. Late in his life, he experienced a profound spiritual enlightenment after a period of fasting and meditation. Afterwards he began the process of developing the healing art of Reiki and opened a teaching clinic in Japan.

Myth #3: Having a Reiki Attunement Will Open Up a Dialog with Your Spirit Guide

Ahhh… the lure to get a Reiki attunement with the promise of a glimpse into the spirit world. Please don’t fall for this. This myth may have arisen out of the writings from Diane Stein. In her widely published book Essential Reiki, Diane describes how many of her students became aware of who their guides were after months of using Reiki following their level II attunements. The urban legend that followed was that the attunement alone would make this happen. Some Reiki II classes include a promise to “Meet your Guides.” Yes, it could happen and likely has happened for some Reiki initiates, but there is no guarantee. This promise could set you up for a big disappointment. Hoping for a meeting with your guides or angels should not be the sole reason for signing up to take a Reiki class.

Myth #4: Reiki is a Massage Therapy

Reiki is NOT a massage therapy. Although there are many massage therapists who will incorporate the use of Reiki’s healing energies into their massage sessions. Reiki is an energy-based therapy that does not involve manipulating bones or tissues. Reiki practitioners use a light touch with their hands on their clients’ bodies or will hover their palms over them.

Myth #5: Giving Reiki to Others Depletes Your Own Energy.

A Reiki practitioner does not give his personal energy over to the client. He serves as a channel, funneling Universal Life Energy through his body to the recipient. Much like the delivery boy delivering a package on your doorstep. The Reiki package is delivered, the delivery boy goes home fully intact. Ki energies are infinite and never run out. This does not mean that a person giving Reiki may not feel tired after giving a treatment to someone. This sometimes happens and Reiki has been wrongly blamed for it. If a person giving a treatment experiences exhaustion during or after applying Reiki to others, this is likely an indication that something is out-of-balance in his own body or life that needs attention. Booking a healing session for himself with another practitioner or conducting self-treatments would be warranted.

Higher Vibrations

Monday, January 26th, 2009
Lots has happened in the last week or so. Progress is being made on the collaborative website that I'm creating with amazing people! We're getting articles together, working on format, planning out our roles, gathering affiliate links that make sense, and working together to plan combo offerings for healings, readings and attunements. Also, the group is getting to know each other by sharing information and energy with each other and it's a beautiful thing. Hopefully, there will be a launch soon, but it's a big process right now.

I recently purchased the domain www.reikiawakening.com and I'm excited about setting it up to be the place where my healing, attunement, tutorial, and channeled readings can be ordered, and this blog will be just what it is - my blog. So stay tuned. The change should be seamless when it happens.

I had a healing last week from one of the people I'm working on the new collaborative website with, Ken Stone. He is a natural ability healer - he has no formal healing training or attunements, but the session with Ken was amazing and powerful. Ken is also a most gracious and caring person besides an amazing healer. But the reason I'm mentioning this energy healing experience is that it changed me. Ken balanced my chakras, cleared my energy, and "tuned" everything. I felt fantastic - buzzing with energy, simply glowing. And then the buzzing became a kind of intense anxiety - a longing for something that I couldn't define. I was worried about it the next day and let Ken know. We talked again the day after that to try to sort it out. Ken noticed I was ungrounded. My energy was swirling up around my head. So we worked on grounding, pulling it back down to my feet, where it should be. But it kept happening, even a few minutes after repeating the grounding procedure.

We talked about the idea of surrendering to the flow of things and not getting anxious about the process. He walked me through a guided meditation. I imagined being in a pool, floating, a nice summer day, nowhere I had to be. It was good. Surrender is hard for me because I'm very directed and know what I want to happen, yet I'm impatient. Surrendering involves letting go of the when and trusting it will happen. In fact, you have to even be grateful for knowing that you will receive what you want, and that part takes lots of trust. So that was good for my meditation practice. But the anxiety continued.

The only time I haven't been feeling anxious is during any energy work or meditation. So I've been seeking energy experiences by offering free Reiki in the evening to people on Twitter, letting the energy flow to a dozen people in 30 minutes time. (They all felt it.) And I've been doing attunements as scheduled, really glad for each opportunity to connect with energy. Plus, I've been meditating. Anything I can do to stay connected at regular intervals with the flow of the energy. It's become a driving need, and rather alarming.

With the help of my intuitive friends Cher and Connie, we figured out what's happening with me. I'm going through an ascension. My guidance said (through Cher's channeled connection) that my true calling is to be a healer and a teacher. That's the pull I'm feeling. It's the recognition of myself as a light being and a longing to return to being connected to the spiritual energy source. My body feels anxiety when my soul is struggling to go upward. So that's why this is happening to me. (It's nothing I would have pictured two years ago ever happening to me, or even two weeks ago for that matter). I need to be doing more energy work. I am in a new process of awakening. Connie tells me to hang on for another week to get through it. My body needs to adjust to this new vibration in my energy and the anxiety will subside and I'll have a higher level of awareness, vision and strength in the energy work I'm doing. I'm excited, in awe, inspired, and on some level validated that the work I've been involved with has been for a reason. I've been spiritually guided. Like Reiki. But this time, it's been guiding me.

I'm putting a "donate" button on here for Reiki healings. Those who would like Reiki, whether to experience it for the first time, or for any of its many multi-dimensional benefits, please email me, and when it's over, stop back here to give something back. Whatever you decide is fine. I won't turn people away. I also accept trades. Please begin with an email requesting Reiki healing. I always respond quickly to requests.

Reiki Healing

Attunements are available for you to learn to channel Reiki energy and increase your own intuitive connection. I would consider it a blessing to help you find your own connection to Reiki or angels. The angel attunements really help you know you're not alone. They're powerful. Reiki attunements can give you instant access to the unlimited potential of Reiki energy. I'm here to guide you and assist in any way you need. Attunement information is in the right side column.

Peace.

The business of Practical Enlightenment

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Part I

EnlightenmentWhen one is illumined, he sees himself as the one Spirit throbbing beneath all minds and bodies. Such a person, after liberating his own personality, tries spiritually to liberate other personalities—knowing that they belong to his own Self. –Paramahansa Yogananda

Fortunately, this desire to help others evolve usually springs up fairly early on one’s path. It’s also fortunate that enlightenment doesn’t have to be fully ripened for the pathwalker to receive tremendous benefits.

Enlightenment teachings work all along the path as long as the practitioner is consistent and internalizes the transformation and wisdom that’s made available. You don’t have to be on the final tier of illumination to reap deep rewards. At each stage and everyday, enlightenment practices keep suffering away, and make life successful and beautiful in every area, not only your spirituality.

Enlightenment is the transformation of personal consciousness to universal consciousness. According to the wisdom traditions of the world, this transformation is not an anomaly or departure from human nature, but rather the actualization of human potential. –Deepak Chopra

Human potential is part of your entire life. You apply your human potential at work, in business, at home, with your family, with your friends, in sports and recreation, in your own mind and your body. Doesn’t everyone want to be better at life?

Mainstream methods of success and happiness focus only on material concerns, and not only in the sense of money or possessions. Material also in the sense of brain or thought improvement, emotional intelligence (which is a good thing), physical prowess, career goals and personal development.

Intelligence is valuable. What’s worth considering is what “smart” is and what kind of “smart” are we talking about? People read smart authors, follow smart people in social media; there’s smart money and investing, smart career moves, smart real estate and smart car buying.

But are we actually any smarter? We haven’t found a peace solution for the Middle East, a true alternative to oil, the economy is in the tank, global warming is still denied, pharmaceuticals are the answer to all our personal and health issues and people go hungry every single day.

As we move more fully into the universal values of the cosmos, we progressively express the qualities of love, compassion, intuition, insight, imagination, and creativity. We find that our thinking and behavior begins to function in harmony with the forces of the universe, and we notice more conscious choice-making, observations of synchronicity around us, the spontaneous fulfillment of our desires, and the manifesting power of our intentions. –Deepak Chopra

News flash! Overarching methodologies are all-encompassing, i.e., enlightenment filters down to all aspects of your life and the world. Enlightenment addresses your innermost self which like a giant Russian nesting doll encompasses all of you. When a transformative practice is used to evolve your innermost self your body, mind and outer life are also bettered. You can address all those parts one by one, or work on the central being in which those parts are unified.

The most important thing about spirituality is that it gives you awareness or puts you in touch with who you are. Who you are is not what you have been doing on this earth-plane, who you are related to, and so on. Who you really are is the Being whose task it is to understand the infinite levels of awareness, of consciousness. –Dattatreya Siva Baba

This is so because spirituality is both the only way out of the conundrum of human existence, and also the way of making your everyday shine! The two are one, there isn’t any separation between your spiritual and financial, familial and personal excellence. How could there be? Your outer life is an extension and only a brief moment in the life of your unified, real Self.

Divesting instead of investing in your spirituality (which uncovers enlightenment) keeps you in darkness or ignorance. There are many more choices to counter what’s unsatisfactory in your life than the list of professionals and services you may find in the phone book. Spirituality is a comprehensive response to the challenges of life, offering practices, philosophy and art. You must realize that solutions are right there in whatever is unsatisfactory. Awakening is always available but you must initiate it.

The practices of awakening make it possible to melt your hardened habitual nature and patterns. You use a method, a technology or system for everything else in your life. The guarantee of spirituality is that everyone can awaken! The practices have been designed by others who have traversed the inner planes. These practices are time-honored and have worked for so many in different cultures and times. In this day and age there are new and effective practices that enrich the field of human awakening.

Will you at least dip your toes?

How Oneness leads to Energetic Integrity

Here I AM

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
Here I AM.

This is all that REIKI requires of us.

To be here. To be ready. To be open. To be willing.

Hear I AM.

Put your hands on. Intend the energy to flow.

Doubt is not needed. Life's healing energy just is.

It exists. How do I know? Because I am sitting here typing this electronic missive to you.

We are conduits of energy. Life's energy and healing energy.

REIKI...Usui Reiki is a beautiful gift.

What ever "flavor" of Reiki you choose to express we all owe our Reiki presence to Mikao Usui. He was the one to show the modern world that we too can answer HERE I AM.

Yesterday I had a new client in my Shalom Reiki Healing Hands practice.

The first part of our session contained 35 minutes of foot reflexology and the last 20-25 minutes was a Reiki treatment.

It was such a beautiful experience and I was so honoured to be there. To be able to say Yes to LIFE and be there for my fellow human BE-ing and join him in centering and balancing.

Each time I engage in Reflexology therapy or Reiki therapy it is a spiritual act. It is a blessing.

May you always be willing to answer Yes, Here I AM, when Love calls.
